10 - minimalism in fashion

minimalism is not a new trend for fashion. a lot of retail store do their concept as minimalism for example in Indonesia Cloth Inc brand
in Vietnam there is Nosbyn

as i do my research why minimalism is still trending until now and will be more trending in the future and what is actually minimalism about?
there are two different types of minimalism :
  1. An aesthetic – monochrome colors, lots of white and bare space
  2. A lifestyle – owning less stuff, living with what’s necessary, giving less meaning to material possessions
Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up might be a major contributor to minimalism’s current popularity and trendiness, since it become a best-selling book.

8 - minimalism in other point of view

Minimalism can be used not only in design area but as well as in economic, politic, social, environment and technology.

i think its a good example from becomingminimalist.com/minimalist-economy/ about minimalism in economic point of view.
in political, there is an exhibition in Berlin called 'Political/Minimal' in 2009
around 30 works which are formally minimalist and yet also have explicit political content.
These works are visually attractive and easily accessible, but a closer look at the material, the surface, the provenance, or the title of the work transforms an encounter with this art into a complex aesthetic, social, personal, and political experience.

Damien Hirst’s painting (2008) Har Megiddo appears as a massive monochrome black circle. Up close, the circle’s encrusted surface reveals a myriad of dead flies.

can minimalism help the environment?
simplify your life and become a minimalist and you will experience less stress, save some money (frugal living) and helping the environment too.

By eliminating unnecessary distractions, the minimalism lifestyle allows a person to slow down, become aware or mindful of their actions and impacts, acknowledge or appreciate things that matter, and remain connected to themselves.

A Minimalist Approach to Technology
for me minimalism in technology make it more in advance. everything become so simple and so easy to do. but then its not always be positive but also negative like for example human labor replaced by technology.

in china, there is a restaurant that starting to use robots ad a waitress. these robots capable of lifting up to 3kg, can deliver dishes, collect empty plates and communicate with customers in simple sentences.

7 - The Next Black - A film about the Future of Clothing

1. Will the mass consumption of clothing continue to escalate?
-  i think by the time pass by, mass consumption of clothing will be growing more and more, because as we can see now mass market retail stores are more popular than high end retail store. so a lot of people will buy a lot of clothing in mass market store which is produce a lot of same design for clothes. and people can buy a lots of garment to sell it again and become a mass consumption because when u buy 100 its cheaper than u buy 10 and u can sell it again with certain amount of profit.

2. Or will we return to creating quality and caring about what we wear?
- might some of brand will consider about it. or might be mass market with high quality garment?

3. Will the future be centered around smart clothing and new technologies?
- i think as technology more in advance, people will competitor more on technology clothes. as it growing slowly now and getting more popular.

4. Or will we find innovation within organic and traditional methods?
- i think traditional and organic kind of method and clothes is getting unpopular and will be leaving out of trend soon. because nowadays people are looking for instant things and they are leaving their traditional things to modern things. they will prefer modern things as it more trendy and fashionable more than traditional kind of clothing (as in fashion line)

6- Minimalism

what do you think about minimalism?

as i interview a few of my friends about the question above, here are their answers :

  1. A typical modern stereotype in color scheming which is an effective way and is most probably effective in the design market.
  2. I think minimalistic designs/things are very appeasing to the eye as there is not too much going on in the design, tho this can be subjective. I also find minimalism good because it's immaculate and has an element of symmetry which gives people a sense of contentment. it can be more towards ironically.
  3. modern, simple, elegant
  4. I view minimalism as a continuously-growing trend nowadays. It's very well-loved because it's modern, and how they can create remarkable impression with the play of minimum colors and ornaments.
for me, in my opinion, minimalism present a simple, clean, bright and not much color in a design.

minimalism is a very wide topic. but in this case, i'll just focus in some element of minimalism which is clean, simple and elegant.
